Kurt Cobain’s suicide casts a retrospective shadow over his lyrics. On internet message boards, fans morbidly posit that the lyrics to “All Apologies” The closing song on Nirvana’s final studio album, In Utero- are a veiled farewell and apology for taking his life.

Nirvana demoed a version en 1991 and played it at the U.K’.s reading festival in August 1992. Cobain dedicated the song to Courtney Love, who had given birth to their doughtier Frances Bean a week before, and led the audience in cheers of support for his troubled partner.

“All Apologies” like the rest of their Unplugged performances was a highlight , it was a first take, and suggested where Cobain’s muse might have taken him next.

This is a story about a new world, a strange and foreign world;

a world of dreams and miracles.

I drew this story in 2006 for an English writing competition, of course there isn’t too much writing on it, but i won a prize for it.

This story is dedicated to all the people who search for their dreams far away from home.

Inspired by music from Sting, Pink Floyd and Heroes del Silencio.

Elvis Presley’s output was variable in the mid-Sixties an, even when he released a gem, the public seemingly didn’t want to know. “A little less conversation” performed poorly in 1968, reaching No. 69 in the United States, while the movie from with it came, Live a Little, Love a Little, was no smash.

The song’s recovery was kick-started by its inclusion in 2001 movie Ocean’s Eleven, and completed by a Nike commercial featuring a remix by DJ Tom Holkenborg, JXL.

The energetic makeover opened up the song to a new generation. Its No. 1 position in the UK edged Presley ahead of The Beatles for the most British chart-toppers: 18 to 17.

Just a few months after I arrived in Australia, i was excited and hoping to finally meet them face to face, looking up trying to find out what they really look like.

Between the tall trees a blue flag with white shining stars is waving in the wind. The smell of sausage rolls inflamed my senses; It was there.

Laying down with a brown bottle in its hand, something like a newspaper sticking out from its pocket.

Wearing sunglasses and thongs, tattoos over its body and a T-shirt with an unknown logo.

I was just really surprised.

The strange creature noticed my presence and slowly turned up its round face; i couldn’t see its eyes but i knew it was looking directly into mine.

Suddenly it started to smile and with a nasal accent, in a loud, friendly accent it said:

How you doing, mate?

McCartney’s burgeoning interest in avant-garde composers such as Stockhausen and Luciano Berio inspired him to suggest the song’s famous orchestral “surges”- in which each player took his instrument through every note from lowest to highest, over twenty-four bars. The result, scored by George Martin for a forty-piece orchestra, was described by Lennon as “a sound building up from nothing to the end of the work” and more pithily , by George Martin as an “Orchestral Orgasm”
